Our stay started bad then got worse.
We had 2 rooms booked. The check-in time is listed as 3pm onwards, we arrived at 4.15.
The guy on reception greeted us with a look oof complete and utter derision (the same look any teenager will give you when you drag them away from an intense online session of Call Of Duty)
Instead of a warm “Hello” or “Hi, how was you day” our greeting was “Drivers License?”
He checked the details silently, then told us one room is ready, the other is not yet clean, come back in 20 minutes. No apologies, or sorry for the inconvenience.
As it was the 2 rooms, although side by side there were in fact 2 elevator rides and a hike apart. We made a simple request to amend this to have rooms closer together. The response involved a look someone would give if you had asked them to list the entire Fibonacci sequence. He was on the brink of a complete brain meltdown. Several elevator rides later that notion was abandoned, as more rooms would need to be cleaned. A lord help us, we couldn’t possibly have clean rooms at 5pm.
When we eventually got into our rooms, we found that they had been over cluttered with extra single beds. This meant there was not enough room for upmarket facilities like a table and chairs! The owners have clearly dumped more beds in the rooms to try and milk more out higher capacity room rates. It felt more like a Dorm or Backpackers than a hotel. The toilet roll holder was only reachable while seated if you were a 14yo Romanian gymnast. For our 2 nights stay we had 2 rolls of toilet paper, one with about 10% the other about 20%.
We had breakfast included in our booking; it was comical. The first morning, the order, when we were eventually noticed in the restaurant, was for scrambled eggs & bacon, they came out poached and cold. The kettle was empty (I needed to go up to the room to fill it) and the tea bags (AWA brand) appeared to be waterproof (I’m not joking about this)
During breakfast, 4 police officers walked straight through the reception area towards the rooms (it seemed like they knew the layout quite well) 5 mins later 2 officers marched a sketchy looking guy out in handcuffs while the other 2 officers searched his room looking for who knows what!
Breakfast on the second morning found things remarkably improved, the bain-marie was on lukewarm and stocked with some of last night’s left overs, spring rolls, rice etc. Perfect for an early morning starter of Salmonella and Gastro.
To the owners, don’t bother with your lame cut and paste reply to this review, there is already a plethora of 1-star reviews to this place. There is no point talking the talk if you can’t walk the walk. Go to the counter and serve the customer that is probably standing there right now needlessly waiting. To put it simply, if you can’t be hospitable, get out of the hospitality business. Clearly this industry is not in your wheelhouse. I’ve had decades of travelling experience worldwide, this facility is one of the most poorly run I’ve ever experienced.
To anyone that is genuinely thinking of staying here…. DONT!!
